Furnaces FAQs
How much is a new furnace?

Basic replacements start under $5,000.

What is a cracked heat exchanger?

A heat exchanger is sealed and keeps the combustion gases in the furnace and headed out of the chimney.    Often a mis adjusted furnace can overheat and crack or clog the heat exchanger.    Carbon monoxide is released into the house through the cracks.   We recommend carbon monoxide detectors on each level of a house.

What is a limited lifetime warranty?

A limited lifetime warranty refers to the heat exchanger, the heart of the furnace. For example, in 15 years, they may not have the same parts available and they will offer you cash towards a new furnacae. Sometimes it's the full value of the furnace and sometimes it's a prorated amount on only the part. That depends on the manufacture.

How long do furnaces last?

Most parts are warranted for 10 years. After 15 years, the cost of repairs could outweigh the cost of a replacement.

Is furnace maintenance worth it?

Yes, the furnace in your home is the most adjustable appliance there is.  Furnaces are often installed new without ever being properly adjusted in the first place.   Tune ups are free with our monthly plans.
