Another upgrade for any home is a 4"x20"x25" Filter System. 4" Filters have 5 times the surface area of a 1" filter. They provide much more air flow to your HVAC and can truly be changed every couple of months.
IAQ or indoor air quality can mean a lot of things. Houses can be full dust and dirt, dead skin, bacteria, mold, and VOCs which come from old materials like paint and carpet padding breaking down, not to mention everything pet related. There are many solutions to eliminate the chemicals and smells that inhabit your indoor spaces. Here are a few products we can add to your ventilation system to protect you families health.
Adding a whole house humidifier in the Minnesota climate is hands down the best indoor air quality appliance you can have. Keeping the indoor humidity in a specified comfort zone is a well known health benefit to defend against colds, flus and coughs. People with young children have always ran humidifiers for their children. Portable humidifiers can be souce of bacteria. Dry skin, hangnails, and chronic coughs can all benefit form a whole house humidifier.
A lesser known benefit is the energy savings. The expansion of the wood joints in every home causes massive heat loss. Many of us have seen cracks in floors, vaulted ceilings and around doors get worse in the dry winter. Those cracks are also present in the exterior of your house and create massive leaks when the house dries out. A whole house humidifier will pay for itself in energy savings by keeping the wookword tight and less leaky.
Air exchangers were formally known as heat recovery units. They supply and filter fresh air into the house while crossing it with the warm exhaust air that is leaving the house. This crossover warms the incoming air and saves energy and dollars. Every house is different, air exchangers can be used to lower the humidity in houses that build ice on the windows in the winter. In St Cloud Minnesota we do not recommend running and air exchanger in the summer due to the high humidity.
Duct cleaning is a physical process where we remove the vent covers around the entire house and brush/vac the ducts to recover as much lint, duct and molds as possible. Adding our microbial fogger also kills bacteria and molds in hard to reach places. We ask that humans and pets stay out of the house for about an hour while we treat the ductwork.
